Green clay is a natural, dried clay.
It is rich in minerals and trace elements and can be used on horses in the following situations:
• After intensive training sessions
• To help prevent swelling of the joints or on the limbs
• For superficial therapy of inflamed joints
• For treating wounds
In general a treatment twice daily is recommended. The number of treatments can however be increased without problem depending on the extent of the swelling. A treatment duration of 1 to 2 months is recommended. Light exercise during the treatment period is generally possible without problem. Green clay also helps very well with poorly healing wounds. Applied directly to the wound, it ensures that the wound heals better and the wound surface closes. Growth of “proud flesh” can also be prevented with the use of green clay. An advantage here is that as a paste it can also be applied in hard-to-reach areas such as under the belly or at the horse's elbow.
